[Press Release] Phobos Satellite Launch
Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA, 30th March 2026 — Aethero’s Phobos mission launched onboard the SpaceX Falcon 9 Transporter-16 flight. The Phobos platform/spacecraft carries the Aethero NxN-ECM (@Nvidia-NX/Nano Edge Computing Module), which is powered by the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX in “Super Mode,” achieving up to 157 TOPS of compute power in orbit.
This mission is not just a flight; it’s a demonstration of a new era in orbital intelligence. Phobos serves as an example of the types of spacecraft that the NxN-ECM is expected operate on, highlighting how Aethero’s hardware can transform standard satellite architectures. Crucially, the platform enables the NxN-ECM to support 24/7 continuous on-orbit compute operations, maximizing data processing capabilities throughout the entire mission lifecycle.
With this launch, the Phobos platform introduces Aethero’s new platforms/compute-as-a-service (PaaS/CaaS) model. By leveraging this architecture, Aethero is supporting multiple software customers deployed onboard as containerized applications. This highly configurable system allows operators to run intensive space compute-as-a-service and Earth Observation (EO) use cases directly at the edge, drastically reducing latency and the need to downlink raw data.
The experience and flight heritage gained from the Phobos mission will be critical to Aethero’s future vision of building out robust, scalable orbital data infrastructure. By seamlessly integrating high-performance computing and containerized software deployment into a standard satellite platform enabling a service, Aethero is ushering in a new standard of adaptiveness and intelligence for the space industry.
